MONICA MORALES
Born in Mexico City, from an early age the artist was drawn to the power of color, a passion nurtured by her parents, both architects.
After studying Textile Design, she lived for many years in Mexico City before moving to Europe, where she eventually settled in Italy.
Over time, Monica developed her own abstract language through a variety of techniques - acrylics, oils and digital art.
Her work is immediately recognizable: layered stains create striking, unconventional color combinations. In her vision, space itself becomes color, a concept deeply connected to the legacy of Mexico's Modern School of Architecture. Alongside abstraction, she also explores figurative elements in a contemporary, simple yet profound visual language.

I AM LOOKING INTO MY HEART
"WHEN I PAINT, I LOSE MYSELF. TIME AND THE OUTSIDE WORLD FALL AWAY.” | MONICA MORALES
The stains of the artist seem to be made with a single brush, without hesitation, distractions, exaggerations or pretensions, they are simply natural. Each is a colorful field, like Frankenthaler’s art, with its own aesthetic, radiating both warmth and coldness.
Sometimes they overlap with each other, in a certain dance, and they make us think of sophisticated makeup palettes, fashion trends, fashion shades, haute couture sketches, overlays of exotic textiles and fine patches of fabrics.
The artist does not look for perfect forms, only beauty in the stains, in their chromatic planes that assemble dynamically, as in that simplicity and throwing for with her art... so tan of Mexico and colored of Europe, so diaphanous and translucent, so opaque and dull, but so vivacious, clear, lit and bright. In a word, surprising, for its way of dominating the relations and interactions between the different colours.
